Numeral Systems

Counting has been inherent to our behavior throughout human history. Right from making purchases, weighing food grains to accounting needs of businesses counting has been integral. A burning curiosity always remain when a fortunate few of us try to question why we follow the Hindu Arabic numeral system derived decimal system today globally and what other numeral systems were practised by other civilizations and cultures when there was lot of information asymmetry and decentralization owing to lack of internet and telecommunication. I am sharing some notes for children to imagine the most basic concept of number theory (queen of mathematics) in a very fundamental and bottom up way!
